What Causes Cramps After Sex?

Hello Dr. I had a question concerning coitus. Everytime my husband and I become intimate once everything is over I get these small cramps and sometimes they occur throught the day. I was curious as to what exactly this has to do with? Is something wrong with me?

Hello ma'am and welcome.

Not all but many women do experience this after sexual intercourse. In majority of the cases it has to do with contraction and relaxation of the uterus which is triggered by the process of penetrative sexual intercourse itself.

In very few cases although it can be a sign of some underlying condition. Do not worry, I am sure you are fine but it would be wise to get yourself elaborately evaluated to make sure all is well.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
