What Causes Cramps In Abdomen With Diarrhea And Bleeding?

Everything seemed normal until yest. I ate dinner. Shortly after I felt cramps pain in my stomach. I went to bathroom and strained to have chunks of poop come out a little at a time. Then I had diarreha and the diarreha with small bits of blood. I haven t had a normal bowel movement. I feel cramping in lower abdomen and when I try to go to bathroom all that comes out is a mucous blood that is bright red. I ve eaten a little bit of solid food. I ve had colonosvopys in the past with no problems. I plan to go for another one. Do you think this is an emergency situation that I need to see a dr right away.

Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

As per your symptoms, this seems to be due to food poisoning or acute gastroenteritis or may be colitis.

If there is vomiting, abdominal cramps and diarrhea with small bits of blood then there will be chances of electrolyte imbalance in the blood.

You should be immediately monitored for vitals signs like pulse, blood pressure and temperature etc.

You can take plenty of water with lemon juice (added salt),coconut water or WHO oral re-hydration solution.

The important thing is to combat vomiting and diarrhea and for which you would require anti-emetic drugs (mostly injectables or oral) with antibiotics (norfloxacin with antiprotozoals like ornidazole preferred) with other water and electrolyte fluids, prebiotics and probiotics.

So,it would be advisable that if you consult physician for all routine blood investigation and proper treatment.

Hope this will help you.

Thanks and Regards,
