What Causes Crunching Sound While Turning Head?

I feel like I have a pinched nerve in the back of my neck. I hear a crunching sound when I turn my head side to side. When I rub the back of my neck I can feel like a tight tendon and it crunches when I rub it, it feels as if I have guitar strings under the skin.

Thanks for the query.
Hearing sound while moving neck may be due to degenerative problems. I think you are having cervical spondylosis. I am sorry that I can't tell you at which stage you are without an X-ray. You should check you calcium level also.
You can start isometric exercises for neck. Calcium supplements and sheduled exercise can help you.
Wish you a better health.
