What Causes Dark Brown Stools?

My stools aren't completely black, however, sometimes theres a dark brown streak or a dark brown patch on regular brown stools at times. I don't experience any other symptoms (loose stools on occasion but usually after drinking the night before) but my diet isn't that great (lack of vegetables and fruit) and i drink once a week. Just a poor diet or something else

other possibilities like infection diarrhoea, obstruction etc..
