What Causes Dark Color Blood And Blood Clots With Bowel Movements?
i took flucloxacillin for six days, had bad diorrhia and a small amount of bright red renal bleeding, then taken off it as it was the wrong medication, then I was given one large dose of metronidazole, there were no stools at all the next day, however this morning I had diaorhia with a lot of dark blood and a lot of dark blood clots
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of taking Flucloxacin for 6 days which caused severe diarrhea, stopped, took metronidazole which stopped the diarrhea for a day. But recurred with dark colored blood and blood clots. This indicates that there may be entero-colitis due to imbalance of bacterial flora causing ulcerative colitis or so. This can be diagnosed by the following: Stool tests. CT scan of the abdomen. Colonoscopy after the symptoms are bit abated, This will give the proper diagnosis,. Till then continue metronidazole. Start pre and probiotics. If required steroid enema or so many be needed.
