What Causes Dark Color Blood In Stool?

I have colon disease with servere diverticular disease on my sigmoid colon. When I had a BM this morning my stool was a dark maroon to black color and had blood around it. I have contacted my gastroenterologist but have not heard from him yet. What symptoms will I have other than the blood in my stool if a diverticula has ruptured?

Dark marun or black might be old collected bleed or upper GI bleed, if diverticula has ruptured, then u would have fresh red bleeding. But though, visit Gastroenterologist and get examined as black or.Marin stool is also not normal and u need to find site if bleeding. All d best!
