What Causes Dark Stools After Having Oflox-OZ For Typhoid?
1 week ago I suffered mild fever associated with nasal conjestion, head-ache, body pains, chills from second day, etc., and I took over-counter flucold tablets twice a day for three days. But symptoms are only temporarily relieving. Then consulted doctor and he conducted urine analysis and informed that I m having urine infection as seen in report 6 to 8 puscells. Prescribed me Norflox and paracetamol for 3 days. But symptoms not controlled and even I got acidity like symptoms in addition. Again consulted the same doctor and then he conducted Typhoid test and it came 1:160 positive. Then he changed the prescription to Oflox-oz and combiflam with above5 (rabeprazole) for 5 days. Right from the 1st days symptoms decreased. But today on 4th day my stool observed to be dark and tarry. Is there any problem with it ?
Hello there, One of the symptoms seen with typhoid include some bleeding in the gut. This blood then gets broken down into acidified iron which in turn causes tarry stools that stick to the bottom of the pot. It may be there for 2-3 days but should progressively decrease. If it does not then you should make a visit to a gastroenterologist. Hope this helps, Dr Arun A
