What Causes Dark, Thick And Sticky Stools In Kid?

Hello, My daughter just turned 3 years old. and her bowl movements have been causing a lot of concern. She has dark, very thick and sticky poop. She will poop a little at a time and I have to wipe it all off her butt with sensitive wipes and then she will go a little more, and so on. What could be going on? I have suspected that she is sensitive to Gluten / Wheat because I notice that this worsens when she has pasta and bread, cake, etc. Could you give me any advice?

Pediatrician, Neonatology 's  Response
Hello,

In gluten sensitivity, there is a large bulky stool, still, a blood test ttg IgA can rule out it. Stool examination should be done to rule out malabsorption, worm infestation, colitis, lactose intolerance.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Sachin Kumar Agarwal, Pediatrician, Neonatology
