What Causes Decrease In Weight Gaining Process In A Baby?
Hello Doctor , My one year old girl baby is not putting weight since 6 months means her weight gaining process reduced . Till five months she had good weight gaining process in which she was having motherfeeding alone after that I started giving her ceralac, rice khanji and also well boiled smashed vegetables, apple but she gained very less weight . Her birth weight is 2.99kg but now she is still 7.5kg only . But she is having adequate food nowadays, good activity , brain development is also good - she learns everything very fast (she climbs about 20 steps herself ) so please advise whether her weight gaining process is normal or have to be consider very serious issue ?
Hi, Thank you for asking question on health care magic. The weight gain is more during first 6 months than next 6 months. The baby doubles its birth weight by the end of 5th month and trebles by one year. Your baby is gaining weight normally. You need not worry. Hope this answer will serve your purpose Please feel free to ask any more queries if required Take care Dr.M.V.Subrahmanyam MD;DCH Associate professor of pediatrics
