Hello, My last period was the 11th of April and it is now the 24th of May. I took pregnancy tests on the 16th, 17th and 23rd of May - all being negative. I am getting a few PMS symptoms, especially bloating. I have had sex twice this month but both with condoms and the first time, there was no ejaculation. Is there a likelihood of me being pregnant? If not, what else could be causing such a delay. Thank-you in advance.
Hello, thanks for writing in to HCM. I understand your anxiety, but do not worry. Likelihood of a pregnancy is very less, if the condom was used correctly. There are many causes of delayed periods other than pregnancy- stress, sudden weight gain/loss, hormonal imbalance (polycystic ovarian disease), thyroid abnormality etc I would suggest you wait for a 2-3 days, and if the period doesn't arrive you should do a pelvic ultrasound to help in ruling out a pregnancy and evaluate the pelvic organs, as also a basic blood workup. Hope this helps. Take care and do write in again with any doubts.
