I am 20 days late on my period. I have taken both hpt and blood test. They both were negative. I am experiencing severe constipation today. 2 days ago I had bad diarrhea and vomiting. I was diagnosed with PCOS in August. I was prescribed progesterone and clomid. I followed my doctors orders to a T . I m not sure whats going on.

Hi,

As both your HPT and blood test for pregnancy gave negative results, the possibility of pregnancy is very less. PCOS can present with irregular menstruation, anovulation and infertility due to the abnormality in reproductive hormones. Constipation and diarrhea may be due to some other cause like gastroenteritis but during the premenstrual period also some amount of bowel disturbances can be expected.

Clomid containing clomiphene citrate will help in ovulation induction and progesterone tablets will help in the maintenance of pregnancy. But, as at present your pregnancy tests gave negative results, possibility in this cycle you might have not conceived and you may get your periods soon.

If you continue to take the progesterone you will not get the periods. After stopping the progesterone only, you can get the withdrawal bleeding and in next month can plan for ovulation induction. Healthy balanced diet, regular calories burning exercise and maintaining normal body mass index will help in curing the PCOS along with medication.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
