I have been having trouble with swollen and bleeding hemrroids. Went to the doctor and she gave me a cream. Complained to her again a week later and she ran a blood test. Vitamin D and iron was low. Still had the problem, begining this week I became constipated again. I took a otc laxative this morning. Now I have diarrhea and it is black in color.
Hello..... As you have Bleeding haemorrhoids, this can cause bright red colored blood during defecation or after that due to straining. According to your clinical details, Black color stool since few days can be due to two reasons....First is, You might be starting Some hematinic drugs (Iron containing capsules) for Iron deficiency that can cause black stool and diarrhea is due to luxatives you are taking.....Second cause might be due to Malena( is black tarry stool). Malena is due to bleeding form Upper GI tract (before Ligament of Treitz) that may be due to gastritis or gastric ulcer or can be other causes, we have to find out.
Thank You
