Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Diarrhea, No Appetite And Severe Cold?
I had a severe cold a few weeks ago and have been really congested ever since. I thought I was getting better, but then yesterday I came down with the chills (no fever), diarreha, no appetite, and still really congested. Is there anything I should be taking or doing?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. History of upper respiratory congestion followed by chills, diarrhoea indicates one of the following: Stomach flu in continuation. Or secondary bacterial enteritis as the swallowed infected sputum can cause gram negative intestinal infection thus chills but no fever. Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation. Get a clinical evaluation by your Doctor and get started on a proper symptomatic treatment with decongestants, anti-inflammatory and antibiotics. Plenty of oral fluids. Bed rest, steam inhalations and supportive management.
