90 yr old f/was constipation going on 7 days. had roughage in salad,pasta sauce with diced vegies, creamed spinach,etc for meals. was taking fiber pills w/doculace. complained of stomach pain. administered suppository on day four-result type 1/2 stool-twice.stomach pain & discomfort persisted. no more stools w/continued fiber pills,doculex & two small doses of polyechylene glycol powder oral solution. Day 7 inserted suppository. had normal stool 4hrs later. then 2hrs later diarrhea started-and continues now 7 times today. no more laxatives given. fluids taken regularly and with gusto today.
