Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 17 yr old son who is healthy and rarely gets sick starting throwing up sunday afternoon. He continued throwing up until 4am. He then had diarhea. He has experienced a lot of back pain. He also had chills. The back pain is what has me thrown off. My wife thinks he had food poisoning but Im thinking it might be something different. Its tuesday morning and he just got out of bed for the first time other than going to the bathroom.
Probably he may be suffering from food poisoning. Other possibilities like gastritis or stomach flu or bacterial gastroenteritis etcetera. Give plenty of ORS liquids orally. If he is vomiting, then need antiemetic medication.
Use tablet Zofer twice a day for five days, tablet Sporlac thrice a day for five days. If symptoms not improved, he may need intravenous fluid administration. Please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
