What Causes Diarrhea, Vomiting And Pain In Upper Left Back Area?
I am having my 3 month old granddaughter visit on Friday . Last Saturday I vomited when I awoke and thought it was something I ate Friday night. Followed the BRAT diet on the weekend and on Monday and today have had diarrhea. Also have a pain in my upper left back. Will I be contagious to my granddaughter and family?
Upper back pain could be related to muscular or may be due to electrolytes deficiency especially sodium and potassium.
You must undergo routine blood count, electrolytes with clinical examination of abdomen or ultrasound of abdomen.
You will require antibiotics (quinolones or cephalosporins or antiprotozoals etc.) with anti-emetic, antispasmodics and anti-inflammatories with prebiotics and probiotics.
you will also need of fluid and electrolyte balance in body for which you can take plenty of water and fruit juices or WHO ORS frequently in a day.
Mostly diarrhea are not contagious but you should be careful about hand washing after every bowel movement as they are spread from feco-oral route. So you need not to bother about spreading it to your grand daughter.
So,you must consult physician for immediate treatment
Thanks and regards,
