What Causes Diarrhea While On Donepezil?

My mother in law is on donepezil (10 mg) for dementia. She has had sever diarrhea ever since her doctor up the dose. Can I safely just have her stop taking it, or will that cause other problems. She is having so much trouble that I have her in Depends for the sudden uncontrolled bouts. Thanks, Gina Rolsten YYYY@YYYY

Hi,

Yes, you are right. Donepezil can cause gastro side effects, specially diarrhea. If she is in trouble because of it, I think we can always plan to stop it and change with another one. So talk to your doctor in this regards.
