What Causes Discomfort And Weird Bubbly Noises In Stomach?

I m a lifeguard and I fished out a bunch of ducklings from the pool and only rinsed my hands in the pool since there s a ton of chlorine. I later at my lunch and didn t think about how dirty the ducks were and now I feel like I have to use the restroom every minute but nothing comes out except for air. My stomach is feeling slight discomfort but no pain and my stomach keeps making weird bubbly noises

Thanks for your query.

The weird bubbly noises the stomach make is called '' Borborygmi'' and the probable reasons can be intestinal obstruction or aerophagia causing excessive gas or intestinal infection causing gas formation or may be related to anxiety and stress.

If your discomfort and bubbling noises are not so troublesome then you should take antispasmodics with antacids which are available over the counter for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms ae troublesome or persist longer evevn after symptomatic treatment then I would advise you the following invstigations.

-Routine investigations of the stool, urine and blood to rule of thyroid, live problems

-X-ray of the abdomen in standing position.

-CT scan of the abdomen with double contrast to find for intestinal obstruction / mass/ cancer etc.

The further treatment will be based on the findings of the investigations.

So,in that case you will need to see physician if problem persists.
