What Causes Dizziness And Headache After A Workout?

Last week, after returning from the gym, I became really tired and weak; more than usual. My head began to pound and it gave me a headache. Since then, I have had on and off syptoms of slight dizziness with my head and heart pounding. I sometimes get this pins and needles feeling in my face and hand. I just feel out of sorts when I get this head pounding. A few days prior to the symptoms, I began taking creatine, tribulus, anabolic primer and vitamin supplements from GNC. Not sure if this is the case, but I stopped taking them after the first week. I still have the syptoms, but not as bad as the first day. Does this sound familiar? I have scheduled an appointment with my doctor next week to get this checked out. Thank you!

Hello dear,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be attributed to:
1. Deficiency of certain nutrients like Iron, Vitamin B 12, Calcium, etc. which interferes with blood formation & nerve conduction.
2. Any fluctuation in blood sugar levels (Hypo/ Hyperglycemia)
3. Any fluctuation in blood pressure levels (Hypo/ Hypertension)
4. Any pathology in the vestibular apparatus in inner ear (it is associated with maintenance of body posture & balance)

Symptomatic relief can be obtained with Vestibular sedatives like Betahistine preparations.
In addition, you can take nervigenic agents (like Vit B6, B12, Folic acid) & Pantoperazole (to be taken 30 minutes before meals).

If it still persists, then you need to consult your Physician/ ENT Specialist & get a complete clinical examination done.
Investigations like estimation of blood pressure, blood sugar levels, serum electrolytes & vestibular function tests will be required to rule out any pathological cause for the symptoms.

There is no need to worry, you will be fine.
Till then, maintain adequate hydration & proper nutrition status and avoid stress.
And also take precautions of getting up from bed slowly & avoid sudden head movements.

Wishing a Good Health.
Take care.
