Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Dizziness, Blurred Vision, Nausea, Cold Sweats After Intercourse?
Hi I had a dizzy spell the other night. My vision became blurred room darkened, followed by nausea, cold sweats and ringing in my ears. Symptoms subsided when lowered myself to ground and drank a lot of water. This occurred after intercourse and I was also extremely thirsty. Not currently pregnant but have had this happen to me twice in my last preganancy. Past ekg negative. Dr at the time found no underlying condition. My body normally runs 108 to 110 over 60. Could it just be vaovagal nerve issue or dehydration? Should I be following up with my MD right away or just monitor it for now? Martha.
Very likely the symptoms you describe might be due to vasovagal reflex. It is not dangerous but it is very uncomfortable.
You can make sure you drink well during the day and keep yourself active with regular exercise and regular walks. Long periods of lying or sleeping can make you more susceptible to it as well.
If the symptoms go on you might need to have some checks called a basic metabolic profile with glucose checks, lipids, CBC, ERS, liver, and kidney function tests, etc.
I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj,
General & Family Physician
