What Causes Dizziness While Climbing Stairs Or Bending Over?

My husband is 65 and feels very dizzy after climbing 6-10 steps into our house. He exercises at 24 hour finess, riding a stationary bike and swimming laps, yet when he gets out of a car he has to bend over or stand still because of dizziness. He feels like he is going to faint.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Causes of giddiness after exertion due to cradiac failure or hypotension or anemia or vestibular insufficiency etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Posterior circulation stroke may also present like this. Avoid spicy food and alcohol avoid smoking and caffeine drinks. Use tablet Vertin 16 mg thrice a day for five days. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
