What Causes Dizziness While Suffering From Hypothyroidism?

I'm a 85yr old female in good health and lately I'm experiencing lightheadedness and dizziness. A few wks ago I woke up with the room spinning for a few seconds and since then I often feel lightheaded to the point where I feel as if I might pass off. I have hypothyroidism. Could it be my thyroid? Haven't made a doctor appt yet.
Thank you...... also BP is on the low side.

Hello
Welcome to Ask a Doctor service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Hypothyroidism may not cause the dizziness if it is being treated well, if this is the persistence dizziness then CT heads is advisable to rule out the Transient ischemia of cerebral region although it is very less likely, most of the time dizziness is due to vestibular dysfunction and it can be managed tentatively with antihistamine like Betahistamine.
Hope I have answered your query, let me know for further assistance.
