What Causes Draining Of Yellow Pus From Incision Site Of Knee Post Treatment?

I have had knee inflammation three times in the past several months. No injury. Doc drained off fluid and injected with cortisone twice and had me on antibiotics. The third time he found staph. I went to an orthopedic doc who slit the knee, drained off the infection, rinsed with syringes of saline, and packed with a wick. Also on an antibiotic. Now, a week later, the antibiotic is done, but an increasing amount of yellow pus is draining off the incision site daily while the wick remains. Is this a recurrence of staph? I have a follow up appointment in a week.

Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you probably got septic arthritis of knee, for which incision and drainage operation was done. Now you are having pus discharge .You need dressing alternate day and antibiotics according to culture and sensitivity of pus.It is not completely cured yet. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. I do hope that you have found something helpful. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. Wishing you good health. Take care.
