What Causes Dry Cough While On Lisinopril?

My husband is currently taking Lisinopril for high blood pressure. He s been on it about 2 1/2 mos now. He has a dry cough quite often, especially at night, that he did not have before. Could this be from his medication? And also, how can Lisinopril affect his male functions? He s been having some trouble keeping an erection lately, and wondered if that could be his meds too? Thank you!

Dear Ma'am, Hi and Welcome.
I appreciate your concern for your beloved husband.

Based on the history your husband seems to have developed an important side effect of dry cough caused by the BP lowering medication Lisinopril.

He also seems to be suffering from erectile dysfunction which is unlikely to be the side effect of Lisinopril.

I advice him to consult his treating doctor to prescribe and alternate effective but a safer medication like Losartan or Amlodipine which do not cause dry cough. Also, he may need sildenafil citrate for the erectile dysfunction.

Hope I could answer your queries.
Best regards.
