Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Dry Nostrils And Cough In A Child With Nasal Polyps?
Our 5 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with polyps in her nose. She was having 4 to 5 nosebleeds per week before we went to our family doctor. She complains of dry nostrils and she has recently started coughing daily. Our doctor prescribed a steroid medication, two allergy medications, and a steroid nose spray. Are there any questions I should ask my physician? Or, do I need to consider alternative measures in order to progress healing for our child.
Allergic Rhinitis and polyps are best treated by oral drugs and local steroid sprays. Perhaps once your daughter improves first steroid then oral anti allergics shall be withdrawn and only local nasal sprays will be needed for few more weeks. No need to alter the management.
