What Causes Early Morning Sweat?

I am a healthy 69 year old female, 5'7" tall, weigh about 140 lbs. Have been on some form of estrogen for approx. 25 yrs. Have high cholesterol that is being treated with diet and Cholest Off. When I first wake in the morning and start moving in bed, I sweat just for a few seconds and that is all. It is not caused by menopause. What causes this?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi early morning there is release of 'stress hormones' to wake us up. This causes blood pressure to temporarily rise and also leads to sweating and a slight rise in blood sugar. This is what is probably happening--regards
