What Causes Easy Bruising, Cuts And Bleeding On The Skin While On Propranolol?

I have been taking proprananol for about 6 years. I have essential tremors is the reason I was given the drug. I do have lupus and take meds for that. I am experiencing thin skin, bruising and easily cut and bleed on my lower arms for quite sometime. The bruising is now going past my elbows. I bruise even in my sleep. My Doctor never says a word about these bruises or the cuts and bleeding. Is this a normal thing on this med? I always look like I have been beat up and I am only 68.

Propranolol is unlikely to be the cause of your problems.

Propranolol is a non-selective beta adrenergic blocker used in the treatment of anxiety, panic attacks, migraines, and tremors in addition to other uses.

Its most common side effects include: decreased heart beats, fatigue, muscle weakness, night mares, and erectile dysfunction. It is not known to cause bruising, cuts or bleeding on the skin however, these side effects could be due to the medications you have been taking for the systemic lupus erythematosus.

I therefore advise you to consult your treating doctor for further evaluation and to find out the cause for your skin related problems.
