Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi During a 20 week scan my sons partner was told that the baby had a echo generic bowel. The test for downs syndrome has come back negative. They are also testing for spina fibida and were asked of any family history of this to which my son replied no. However there is some history of spina bifida from my 1st cousons son. Could this distant relation have any bearing on the results??
As far as the genetic disease is a concern and if we talk about the features.
It can be without the history of genetic disease in parents of either.
So it is not important.
Any gene can be active in any subject even if the history of such genetic disease is not present in any family members either from near relation or blood relation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
