What Causes Elevated A1C Levels While On Arimidex?
Since I started arimidex a year ago, I have had a major increase in my A1c (to 8.5) and tachycardia for which I recently underwent an echo which was completely normal but showed baseline heart rate of 107. My A1c has improved dramatically to 7.1 since I started Victoza 3 months ago. My tachycardia isn t usually bothersome, except at night when I have pulsatile tinnitus. Have you noted any of issues with arimidex?
Used mainly in the treatment of breast cancer of postmenopausal women, its most common side effects include: hot flashes, nausea, fatigue, joint pain, mood changes, increased blood pressure and heart rate. Serious side effects include osteoporosis and heart disease.
It is not known to cause hyperglycemia (drug induced diabetes).
Based on the history you seem to have developed diabetes (reflected in the form of HbA1c of 8.5) during the course of treatment with Arimidex and following the use of antidiabetic medication Victoza the blood glucose appears to be controlled.
I advise you to consult your treating doctor for further evaluation and to find out other causes of baseline tachycardia like hyperthyroidism or arrhythmias.
Hope this will solve your problem. Best regards.
