What Causes Elevated Levels Of AST And ALT In A 14 Month Old?

i have just been told to my 14 month old needs an ultrasound on her liver, her AST and ALT are high. i asked the doctor but he did not tell me what was going on. he just said to get it done ASAP. we are going today in a few hours. i just want to know what to except?

Hi...there are many reasons for the liver enzymes (AST and ALT) to get elevated. I need the whole liver function test panel to judge on this and also proper history and some clinical points to note. It also depends on how high the enzymes are. The reasons could range from a simple self limiting to viral illness to a serious congenital liver disorder. I suggest you get back to us by uploading all the relevant test which have so far been performed by uploading the images.
