What Causes Excess Gas In The Morning?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...

On getting up early in the morning I drink about 1 1/2 litre of slightly warm water for the past over 20 years. During the past 2 years, I started passing a lot of gas, especially in the morning. Nowadays, while getting up from my bed, my lower part of the stomach is full of gas and until the gas is released I feel uncomfortable. I am consulting a Gastroentrologist for the past 3 months - but the verious medicines he prescribed do not appear to work on me. My question is (i) Is there any specific test, by conducting which, the exact cause of the excessive gas created and passed can be treated.

Hello,

The causes of excessive production of gas:

1. Indigestion leads to reaching of undigested carbohydrates to the large intestine so bacteria utilize it, leading to gas production. So, in this case, it improves digestion by reducing calories or adds digestive syrups.

2. Overgrowth of abnormal growth bacteria in the colon due altered flora. I this condition use antibiotic that suppresses the growth and then add probiotic to grow.

3. Food allergies : some foods like lactose or peanut may cause indigestion and gas production; do avoid it.

4. Malabsorption of food: so check for the cause of it and get it treated. If symptoms do not improve, please consult your doctor, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
