What Causes Excessive Burping After Taking Amoxicillin?
My doctor prescribed me amoxicillin today due to flu like sympotoms: headache, nausea, sore throat, and fever. I took one when I got home and than eat lunch 15-25 minutes later. After I ate I started burbing and didn t stop for about an hour. Later I ate a sandwhich and started burbing again and it is still going on and has aster about three hours. I took some tums but they don t seems to help. I have taken amoxicillin several times before. Any suggestions of what could be wrong?
Hello, It is due to the killing of good bacteria in the intestines which results in fermentation of certain foods resulting in build up of gas and pressure in your intestines resulting in burping. Take a probiotic like lactobacillus twice a day till your anti biotic course is on. Drink plenty of water. There is nothing to worry as everything shall become all right soon. Thanks
