Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband had a stroke in July. He has recovered to a point but in the last month or so is just sleeping all the time. His medications haven t changed except to decrease significantly the Lipitor due to side effects. He is on setraline and gabapentin as well as heart drugs. What could be causing this inability to stay awake or wake up in the morning? He is not complaining of dizziness or shortness of breath and his vital signs remain good. He does have a long-standing heart condition. The only other thing is moderate edema in one leg for the first time since before the stroke. I don t know how to help. His Dr. is aware of the above but doesn t give it much weight. John s bloodwork is pretty decent for his 78 years and health issues. He does not have diabetes and is mostly vegetarian with a heavy emphasis on salads. He has a very negative mindset. Thanks, Susan Polifronio
