What Causes Excessive Sleepiness In A Baby?

My baby is 7 weeks now. He sometimes has periods lasting 3-4 days of excessive sleepiness during the day. It s hard to keep him awake. I worry that it will interfere with sleeping at night but he still sleeps pretty well even then. What would cause this excessive sleepiness and is there any chance that it could cause developemental delays? I guess what I am asking is , is this normal?

Hi, welcome to HCM.
A 7 week child may sometimes sleeps for long periods, this is a normal thing unless you have given some medications.
If child is passing urine more than 6 times per day and is feeding normally, then you don't have to worry.
I hope this has helped you. Take care.
