What Causes Excessive Sleepiness While On Methadone And Percocet?
My friend s father is in a nursing home. He is not senile and has no dementia. Her mother just passed away and the nursing home has increased his pain medication to include methadone 10mg and percocet PRN I do not know the dose. Her father tells her he wants the pain medications reduced because all he wants to do is sleep. His breathing and mobility have also been affected. Could this be due to the drug interaction?

Increasing morphine dosage, of course, can give lethargy and excess sleep despite pain relief. Morphine also suppresses respiration.
He should lower the morphine dosage immediately to avoid respiratory suppression.
