So just over 6 months ago I started a new college, and I just couldn't stay awake, I was coming home absolutely shattered and sleeping on my bed at just about 4pm way too early! I was going to bed at early times about 7-8 the earlier night and allowing for a good 11-12 hours sleep. I thought it was just because of the change of scenery but it keeps happening even now, I keep going to the doctors saying it's normal, but I know it's not! Because all of my friends manage to go out in the evening etc, and I just can't because I don't have the body power. It's ruining my life.

Hi, Thanks for posting your query. Not getting enough sleep -- sometimes by choice -- is the most common cause of excessive sleepiness. Working at night and sleeping during the day is another. Other causes include drug, alcohol, or cigarette use, lack of physical activity, obesity, and the use of certain medications.But nodding off when you want or need to be awake may also be caused by an underlying condition. Depression or a sleep disorder -- such as restless legs syndrome, sleep apnea, or narcolepsy -- are common causes of problem sleepiness. Take care Regards
