What Causes Excessive Sweating And Hot Flashes In An Elderly Person?

I am 60 years old and quite healthy and active. I have been an active EMT for 25 years. My problem is extreme sweating after little activity. I know it is not hot flashes. I know what those felt like. I will sweat so bad at times that my eyes burn, my hair is dripping wet, cloths are wet and my patients sometimes get wet from me!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you need to do some examinations such complete blood count with formula and thyroid hormones. Sometimes hyperthyroidism can cause excess sweating.

Also, other diseases such as Hodgkin lymphoma or tuberculosis can cause it. So the first thing to do is a complete blood count with formula.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
