What Causes Excessive Sweating On The Head And Neck?

I have diabetes (8 yrs), hay fever (7 yrs), hyperthyroidism (1 yr) and F1(?), F4 (right-side), & F5 (right-side) vertebrae (4 yrs)--the cushion between is protruding touches the nerve and causes complete loss of ability to use my right leg and excruciating pain (w/o gabapentin & tramadol, 3x/day); without the meds I am disabled. I cannot wait until WI does the Medical Mari Meds. However, for the past year, i have excessive sweating on my head, neck, and upper-thigh areas. It is so embarrassing to start this sweating as soon as I sit down to work. I work full time. 77 yr old female. help!

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

In your case there is two possibilities for excessive sweating are hyperthyroidism and autonomic neuropathy. Other possibilities like hypoglycemia or hypotension or myocardial ischemia or malaria or lymphoma etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Avoid humid or heat climate, avoid spicy food. Please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.
