What Causes Excessive Thirst, Lethargy And Body Pains?
30 yo fit and healthy, male. Oil and gas rig worker in the cooper basin (ambient temp approx. 35 + humidity). Felt thirst and lethargic post manual labour in the sun on Thursday. Has since consumed fluids, however feels lethargic ++, and has no desire to eat. Pt usually consumes decent amount of food. Very unusual for Pt. Occasional waves of 2-3/10 abdo discomfort. Nil diarrhoea. Single vomit on Friday. Nil haematuria or malaena. Dull postural headache on Friday (1/10). Slight general body muscle aches. Nil cough. Nil CP. BP 105/60 (potentially normal for pt - slender, fit). Pulse 60, srr. ECG Sinus. Temp 36.6. Is this heat stress not resolving? A bug of some variety or.....??????????? Thank you for your time. Hello, Welcome to HCM. I understand your concern. From your history, it does not seem to be a stomach infection as there is no fever and other signs of infection. Also, you don't have signs of any acute copper toxicity. So, It is likely to be heat stroke along with allergy and effect of excessive humidity. You have taken care of your hydration which is a good thing. You have done the right home treatment and I advise you to carry on with that. Your headache & vomiting is mild and will go away soon. Avoid the precipitating environment for a few days if possible. Take light diet along with fluid (also take ORS to restore electrolytes) till you feel completely alright. Hope this will be helpful.
