What Causes Excessive Weight Gain And Swelling In The Ankles?

I am 90 lbs overweight, have asthma and sleep apnea. I am out of breath just lifting a grocery bag an sweat profusely with little exertion. My a1c is 5.6 and my thyroid was checked 3 years ago. Ive gained 50 of the 90 lbs in the last year and a half. My ankles swell every day yet I am eating following Dr. Furman. I m so frustrated. My Dr says no salt, no pop and no sweets. I haven t had those 3 things in several years. What so wrong with me?

Hello,

You have to check your thyroid status once again, also check for cardiac or renal problems. Sleep apnea with asthma patients usually obese and insulin resistance, also may have fatty liver disease. Few patients may develop pulmonary hypertension with right heart failure. You need to check ECH, echo , thyroid status, blood pressure and blood sugar levels. You may use bipap at night. reduce the weight. Check for your hormonal status. Do exercise and yoga daily. If symptoms not improved please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.
