Faint line on urine
pregnancy test is not reliable and should be interpreted as false positive. In such cases, blood
hCG levels are tested and that values are more reliable in
confirming pregnancy.
If the blood hCG levels are low, it indicates that it is negative for pregnancy.
You could have a false-positive result if blood or protein is present in your urine. Use of certain drugs, such as tranquilizers, anti-convulsants or hypnotics, may also cause false-positive results.
Sometimes, false-positive test is also encountered in case of 'chemical pregnancy' or 'early miscarriage', when a pregnancy is lost shortly after
implantation. In such instances, blood hCG levels would not rise.
