Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Fainting After An Increase In The Dosage Of Gabapentin?
I have been taking gabapentin 1 300 mg 3 time a day for about 8 months. My doctor told me to double it. The first time I took it I woke up on the floor. The second time I fell down in a diner on concrete breaking my left eye up bad. in hospital for a week. Doctor think I should try it again,
I wish to find out the reason you were prescribed this drug. With respect to different indications, doses may vary. The present dose may be high for you. However, doses as high as 3,600 mg per day are tolerable in some people. Fainting is a well described side effect of this drug. I feel the dose increase has induced these effects. I will advise you see your prescribing doctor for evaluation/dose adjustment or a change of drug.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mbuomboh Veranso
