Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My d-i-l is 28 yo and started a gluten free diet approximately 2 months ago. Her psoriasis cleared and she was feeling better. Then after several weeks she became very fatigued, foggy and felt worse when she ate. Was put on diflucan or yeast but continues with white coat on her tongue after 2 wks. Just had an EGD and colonoscopy Friday (waiting on report) however MD did not mention yeast. Her Rheumatologist states no auto-immune diseases, feels it s GI. Any ideas ?????
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history about daughter in law being on gluten free diet, got psoriasis cleared, but started with other problems of fatigue, foggy and feeling worse on eating. She has developed white tongue and has yeast infection on provisional basis on upper GI endoscopy and Colonoscopy. I can not differ with the Rheumatologist but psoriasis is sort of autoimmune. Disease. The commonest causes of white tongue are: GI disturbance. Reduced immunity giving more chances of oral thrust and so on. Bad oral hygiene. Consuming milk and milk products. The root problem looks to be related to intestines as you have mentioned already. I would advise you to consult a Gastroenterologist for clinical evaluation, further investigations and further managent.
