What Causes Fatigue, Breathlessness On Walking, Stomach Area Lump With Balance Loss?

My mom is 78 years old and overweight, but still works 15 hours a week cooking in a nursing home. She gets extremely fatigued after walking even short distances. She has seen a pulmonologist and he put her on a sleep apnea machine. It hasn t appeared to help with her breathlessness upon walking. Her heart tests have come back okay. She had a kidney stint put in approximately 15 years ago and scar tissue built up on her right side. She has a big hump on that side of her stomach, which makes her walk rather sideways. The doctors have said that it isn t pushing on her lungs, but it sure seems to affect her balance. Could this be part of her problem, carrying this scar tissue around?

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Scar tissue would not cause these problems.
2. Need to get a complete hemogram to check for anemia. As cardiac functions are normal, anemia and pulmonary functions requires evaluation.
3. Nutritional improvement with proteins along with weight reduction and moderate exercises are helpful. Scar tissue would not cause loss of balance. Possible related to vestibular system or cerebellar cause. Get a neurologist opinion along with laboratory tests.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
