What Causes Fever Along With Stomach Ache And Fatigue?

My husband, age 65, has had fever, 101º, off and on for 2 weeks, stomach pains, very fatigued, weight loss. I want to take him to Emergency, he won t hear it. We are at our Florida home, our regular doctor is in Maine. I m concerned that he has some sort of infection.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

You are right, he is having stomach infection like gastroenteritis or it can be typhoid like condition if vomiting and diarrhea present. Rule out typhoid by widal test. Check his CBC report as well. He can be prescribed ciprofloxacin and metronidazole course for five days. Cooked oatmeal help in soothing stomach. Avoid gastric irritants like excess spicy foods and smoking. If no improvement than USG abdomen scan done for further work up.
