What Causes Fever Along With White Spots On The Roof Of Mouth?

Hi, my son woke up with a bright red face. I believe he is fevered, but my thermometer is not working (needs a new battery). I looked in his throat, and he does not have any red blotches in the throat, but there appears to be white areas underneath the skin at the top of the mouth. Not sure if this is normal?

Trying to rule out the possibility of strep.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that bright red face along with white spots on roof of mouth and fever can be due to viral infection leading to the following symptoms..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like throat swab culture, blood tests and Immunoglobulin G levels can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be advised to take a combination of anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and fever reducer Acetaminophen..
Doing warm saline gargles and steam inhalation will help..
Suck throat lozenges..
Take soft diet, plenty of water and sufficient rest..
In case if bacterial infection is also ruled out antibiotics can be advised..
