What Causes Fever And Body Chills Despite Taking Tylenol?

I started taking nitrofurantoin on Monday for bladder infection. By tuesday evening I started running a 101 fever. I ve been taking tylenol. Also getting chills, then getting so hot that sweat just pores off me. I wonder if I should quit the med?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is not the nitrofurantoin that is causing the fever and chills, it is the infection.

The fact that the symptoms are worsening implies that the infection is not responding to nitrofurantoin and you may need alternative antibiotic as soon as possible.
So you do need to stop it but because it is not treating your infection

I hope this helps
