What Causes Fever And Eye Pain In A Child?

My 5 year old son has been having fever since Monday. Initially he was vomiting so our Padiatricianthought it was stomach infection and suggested Rinifol C and Ondem Syrup. Doctor also said he might have loose motion because of the infection. However my child did not have any stomach issues and his stools were also normal. In the meantime he started complaining about eye pain(both eyes). His eyes look tired and fatigued. We are giving him Meftal-P as and when he had fever. However the fever and weakness is not subsiding. Today after consulting the doctor again he said he might be having Viral infection and suggested GLADIMOL-C alongwith RINIFOL He said if the fever does not go away alongwith body ache then we should go for blood tests. What should I do. I am worried??

Hi,

This does sound like a viral infection dear but it could also be the dreaded chicken gunya so better to get that ruled out. Adequate rest and fluids will help a lot.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshita, Ophthalmologist
