What Causes Fluid Retention And Swelling After A Hamstring Injury?
I had a hamstring injury Dec. 17, 2013. That is about 2 months ago. It feels like there is a little pocket of fluid in the bend of my leg. Also around the sides of my knee, I feel a little numb, but not so there isn't feeling but like there is another layer of skin around that area. There may be a bit of swelling, but it is not visible. I iced and have done strengthening exercises. Anything to be concerned about?
Based on the description, I suspect that you could have possibly developed a Hematoma (blood clot) at the site of injury presenting with the typical symptoms as described by you.
An MRI scan of the injured site is necessary to know the exact amount of damage to the soft tissues.
Generally, the hematoma's are self limiting and resolve spontaneously without issues.
So, if you are concerned, approach an orthopedic surgeon for further evaluation.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
