I am a 23 year old female, I have been experience like a light fluttering heartbeat in my chest...Its almost like a heart palpitation but i can feel it in my throat I do have anxiety and am on meds for it now(celexa) I also experience shortness of breath however i strongly fell like and so does my doc the shortness of breath is related to anxiety! My doc says heart sounds normal and strong and thinks this is all anxiety but it scares me to death please help with any answers or advice
The symptoms like palpitations, shortness of breath, fluttering, abnormal sensation in throat etc are most likely due to anxiety only. You are already taking celexa (citalopram), and this is a good anti-anxeity drug. But for symptomatic control of anxiety you can discuss with your psychiatrist for medicines like Propranolol or low dose benzodiazepines like Etizolam etc. These medicine help to decrease the symptoms of anxiety and calms individual.
Apart from that try relaxation exercises like Progressive Muscle Relaxation Exercises, Breathing Exercises. These exercises will help to keep you relaxed. Yoga and meditation also have good results.
Thanks, hope this helps you.
